Sojourner Zenobia collaborates with the unseen to create spaces for those of us in bodies to meet our deepest truths. Nature, Ancestors, Goddesses and Transformation are her muses.
Sojourner graduated from Naropa University in 2006 with a BFA in multidisciplinary performance. In 2008 they founded Soul Journey Projects, a multi-disciplinary performance ensemble. Sojourner attended the School at Steppenwolf in 2009, and Pantheater in Paris 2012, where she studied choreographic theater, and Roy Hart experimental vocal technique. Sojourner weaves together these trainings to present raw and magnetizing solo and ensemble works.
During their Co-MISSION Residency Sojourner will construct a participatory ritual performance exploring femininities through ancestral lineage, identity and feminine principles titled “Femme-Body”. This work celebrates and centers the magic of queer femme identities of color while holding space for the audience to embody feminine principles as an alternative medicine to oppressive hyper-masculinity
