NIC Kay was awarded a 2015 LinkUP Residency.
NIC Kay is a performance artist whose work involves sculpture, video, sound, installation, collage and printmaking. Obsessed with the act and process of moving, the change of place, position, and the clarity/ meaning gleaned from said activity, NIC’s current transdisciplinary projects explore movement as a place of reclamation of the body, history and identity.
Born and raised in The Bronx, New York, NIC graduated from Professional Performing Artist School in 2007 and was a Hemispheric Institute EMERGENYC Fellow in 2009. They are a founding member of 3rd Language, queer arts collective. In 2015, NIC premiered their solo performance lil BLK in Chicago at Links Hall.
NIC has shown work, spoken on panels and hosted workshops at numerous venues throughout the United States and International. They recently developed a web series called the Bronx Cunt Tour around their solo performance lil BLK for opentv which will premiere in Spring 2016.
