Tramp: Dances from Minneapolis
Curated by the Minneapolis-based, Chicago-bred,
choreographic duo HIJACK

Morgan Thorson - Dance Clinic
Saturday, March 3, 10am-12noon
$20

Dancers will awaken their senses to access power, subtlety, and presence. Through the cultivation and observation of kinesthetic alignment, space, scores, and phrase work, this workshop focuses participants to engage in the practice of benevolent witnessing and gutsy dancing. All levels welcome.

To register please contact Erica Mott,
emott@linkshall.org or call 773.281.0824.

Karen Sherman - Systematic Spontaneity
Saturday, March 10, 1-3pm
$20

Following a warm-up that encourages centeredness and specificity, participants will create, repeat, abandon, and mutate material, working on scales large and small, developing self-surprise and prophesy, sabotage and stability. Sherman undermines safe choices and pretty-dance, and in turn makes something unexpected and engaging. All levels welcome.

To register please contact Erica Mott, emott@linkshall.org or call 773.281.0824.

HIJACK - Throwaway Contact Improvisation
Saturday, March 17, 1-3pm
$20

Contact Improvisation is the primary research arena for HIJACK. In 1997, Van Loon and Wilder performed four-minute CI duets weekly for a summer, boring audiences across the Midwest. Smitten, they still practice the form, but layer it with Neurotic Tendencies, Obsessive/Compulsive Behavior, Impossible Tasks, Contrived Movement, and other embellishments. In this workshop, participants will make HIJACK-style spontaneous dances together, do shows for each other, and then throw them away. All levels welcome.

To register please contact Erica Mott, emott@linkshall.org or call 773.281.0824.

Emily Johnson – Class with Emily
Saturday, March 24, 1-3pm
$20

Emily Johnson works with participants to generate intentional, but not necessarily "meaningful" movement, using the intelligence of the body to purposefully move in space. Dancers will work to refine individual technique with poetic, actual, and imagined tools, honing improvisations and leading to powerful, clear dancing. Dancers (or non-dancers) must be interested in investigating their own motivations for dancing.

To register please contact Erica Mott, emott@linkshall.org or call 773.281.0824.
